Nestled at 35045 Ave D, this local gem has been serving up a delightful array of dishes that transport your taste buds straight to the Mediterranean coast. Whether you're a fan of fresh vegetables, marinated meats, or perfectly spiced grains, this spot has something for everyone.

One of the standout features of Damasco is its menu, which offers a diverse selection of Mediterranean dishes that cater to all kinds of dietary preferences. From savory lamb shawarma to tender chicken kebabs, the meat offerings are juicy and full of flavor. If you’re more of a vegetarian, the mezze platters are a great choice, featuring hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, and falafel-each bite a burst of fresh, vibrant flavors. For those new to Mediterranean cuisine, the grilled vegetables and yogurt-based sauces are excellent introductions to this rich culinary tradition.

When it comes to the ambiance, Damasco strikes the perfect balance between casual and inviting. The restaurant’s interior is tastefully decorated with touches of Mediterranean flair, creating a cozy atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy your meal. The friendly staff is always on hand to offer recommendations or explain the intricacies of the dishes, ensuring that even newcomers to Mediterranean food feel welcome and well-informed.

The experience at Damasco goes beyond just the food. It’s about the care and attention to detail in each dish. For example, their shawarma is slow-cooked to perfection, marinated in spices that bring out the savory richness of the meat. Each bite is tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. It's clear that Damasco takes pride in sourcing high-quality ingredients and preparing them with skill and passion. And let’s not forget about their house-made pita bread, which pairs perfectly with any dip or dish. Warm, soft, and slightly charred, it’s the ideal vehicle for scooping up hummus or sopping up a rich sauce.

If you’re someone who loves exploring new food, you’ll appreciate the authenticity of Damasco's offerings. Their chef draws from years of experience, bringing both traditional and contemporary Mediterranean recipes to the table. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with a perfect mix of classic dishes and innovative twists on old favorites. For instance, the lamb kofta, a Mediterranean meatball, is beautifully spiced, offering just the right amount of heat and flavor. Damasco’s ability to balance traditional flavors with a modern touch is what keeps patrons coming back for more.

And what’s a meal without a drink to wash it down? Damasco offers a selection of beverages, from fresh juices to Mediterranean-inspired cocktails. The mint lemonade, for example, is a refreshing choice that pairs wonderfully with any of their grilled meat dishes, giving you a cool, slightly sweet contrast to the spices. The restaurant also offers a variety of wines, each chosen to complement the flavors of the Mediterranean.

For those looking to make a return visit, it’s worth noting that the menu is updated seasonally, reflecting the freshest ingredients available. This means that every time you stop by, you’ll have the chance to try something new and exciting, while still being able to indulge in your old favorites.

The location itself is also quite convenient, situated in Yucaipa, a welcoming community that is home to a mix of long-time locals and visitors. It's the perfect spot to gather with friends, family, or colleagues for a meal that feels special yet comfortable. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or sitting down for a leisurely dinner, Damasco Mediterranean Cuisine provides a dining experience that’s both satisfying and memorable.

  • One of the best Mediterranean places I've been to. The owner was present and served the best Hummus, rice, lamb and chicken I've ever had at a Mediterranean place. Its Syrian flare is what sets it apart. Just moved to Yucaipa and Its now going to be our regular spot! Great and friendly service. Food quality and freshness is top notch! Loved it.

  • Best service in town and excellent Mediterranean food. I always feel so welcomed here. Favorite vegetarian lunch and great meats too. Don’t miss it!

  • Falafel: 6/5 The perfect falafel. No other flavors than chickpeas and herbs. Perfectly fried and has such a light and fluffy texture, I was shocked by how great these were. A must get. Combo Plate: 5/5 A solid plate that can easily feed 2 people or be an excellent appetizer for 3. The rice was a huge star, savory and definitely not an afterthought. You can basically try their whole menu from this plate. The meat is seasoned well, maybe slightly on the overcooked end, but has a very nice and uniquely Syrian sort of flavor (from what I know, but what do I know). The garlic sauce and spicy sauce are also a must with the meat! They complement it very well. The kefta kind of tasted… spoiled but I have had meats on kebabs taste like this before so… do with that as you will. It was the most flavorful though! Chicken: 4.5/5 Beef: 4/5 Kefta 3/5. Rice 5/5/ Mixed Pickles: 4/5 I’m not a huge pickle lover but I appreciated that these did not have a searing vinegar kick. They taste very similar to other Middle Eastern and Eastern-European pickles I’ve had in the past, but have a homemade vibe to them. Tastes great with the meats. Hummus: 4.75/5 REAL hummus. Velvety and has clear flavors of tahini and olive oil. Delicious, hard to do better than this. If you want to try how hummus should taste, this is the one. Grape Leaves: 3.5/5 I was looking forward to these but they had that really mushy texture like they were from a can. I enjoyed the sweet drizzle on top (I think it’s pomegranate molasses) but it was whatever. Flavor is slightly sour and slightly grandma-fridge-esque. Syrian Tea: 5/5 Not sweetened, tasted very strongly of cinnamon and cloves. Easily gave 3 people 2 cups each. Delicious, warm, and helps start and end the meal. Very Indian “chai” vibes if I had to compare it to anything. Oh, it tastes like Korean cinnamon tea without the sugar! Ambiance: The dining room literally looks like a nursing home/an old church building from the 80s. Come for the food! Service: Service was kind of slow but the workers are very kind. Parking: The parking lot is gigantic but with no lines. Very easy, no pain.

  • Owner was so kind and funny. The food was delicious. Chicken kebab and combo kebab were juicy, flavorful, and halal, highly recommend. It felt like we were eating at a family members home.

  • This is the best Syrian food that I've had in a while. Rodger was working very hard to bring quality to the table. My meat was well seasoned with the roasted flavor. I heartily recommend the lamb ribs. Everything was well seasoned and I like their special jalapeno. All the ingredients for authentic and set up towards the Syriac style. The meats Halal if you like that.

  • Update from 9/24/2025. Damasco Mediterranean Cuisine was a perfect place for dinner tonight, and the food and service were just as amazing as they were for lunch several months ago. Tonight, the table ordered the Beef Shawerma Plate, the Chicken Shawerma Plate, and the Kibbeh Plate. Each came with rice, pita bread, mixed pickles, grape leaf, cabbage salad, and hummus. Each dish was delicious and definitely invites one to return for a repeat (or maybe to try something different on the menu such as the Fattoush Salad). My Original Review This is not a fancy restaurant at all, but if you are looking for great food in a very casual atmosphere, Damasco is a must-try location. I gave it 5 Stars for Atmosphere, not because it was fancy, but because it was efficient and authentic. So check your expectations for atmosphere and be ready for tile floors and laminated tables...that just highlight how good the food is. The owner took our lunch order and suggested the food would take 20 minutes to prepare, but it came out in perhaps under 15 minutes. While we waited for food, we had some Turkish Coffee, which is like espresso, only it is better. Next came a plate of Grape Leaves and a special request plate of olives. The Grape Leaves were outstanding. They were served on a bed of cabbage slaw that paired well with the Grape Leaves. The Grape Leave plate can easily serve two, which it did today. The Olives were amazing. The owner's son mentioned that he and his dad made the olives. They were outstanding. I did not see them on the menu--IMHO, they should be a featured appetizer. Both my friend and I had Shawarma wraps, I had Beef, and my friend had chicken. The Beef Shawerma was wrapped in a fresh, soft pita and nicely spiced and dressed. Service was there when we needed it and not intrusive when we were discussing business. That to me was perfect.

  • A great little treasure in Yucaipa. The chicken is so tender and tasty, the sides are outstanding and the service is with a smile. If you love Middle Eastern food you will love Damasco Mediterranean Cuisine!

  • First time trying Damasco. Always passed it by without much of a thought but we were craving something different this evening, so Damasco fit the bill. Tonight we had the combination plate. This is really pretty food! The ensemble of proteins, veggies and carbs is very colorful and visually appealing. The food tastes about as good as it looks with a medley of savory, tangy, pungent, cool and mildly hot flavors that dance harmoniously upon the taste buds. I liked mixing all the sides together in a single bite. Note to management, the combo plate would be awesome as a wrap! Ordering was super easy and the owner was very friendly and personable. Damasco is a great alternative to the fast food and Mexican slop that the majority of Yucaipa's food offerings consist of. Food is a tad bit on the pricey side, so know before you go. In all we were very impressed and we are definitely looking forward to trying some of the other items on the menu.
